What is Stitch?

Stitch is a Google Labs experiment that uses Gemini 2.5 Pro to generate user interface designs and frontend code from text or images. It helps designers and developers move from an initial application idea to a visual interface that they can refine and take into development.

Users can describe an application in plain English, including its color palette and intended user experience, or upload a sketch, screenshot, or wireframe as a starting point. Stitch generates interface designs from those inputs and supports further changes through interactive chat, image inputs, and theme selectors. Users can also create multiple variants to compare layouts, components, and styles.

For design handoff, generated interfaces can be pasted into Figma for further editing and collaboration. Stitch also exports frontend code based on the design. Its focus is interface generation and refinement rather than building an application's backend.
