What is Glaze?

Glaze is a Mac app builder from Raycast that turns plain-language requests into desktop software. It is designed for personal utilities, menu bar apps, workflow automations, and internal team tools. You describe an idea to its agent, then request changes through chat or annotate the app directly to show what needs adjusting.

The apps run locally and can work offline, with access to files, keyboard shortcuts, background processes, hardware, and other operating-system features. They can also connect to external services through APIs. Each app’s source code lives in a regular folder on your Mac, so you can edit it with another coding agent or editor. You own the apps, code, and content you create.

For AI-assisted building, you can use Glaze’s credit-based models or connect an existing Claude subscription through Claude CLI. Apps can be distributed through the public Glaze Store or a private Team Store, which is free during beta. Pro also supports unlisted sharing and disabling remixing. Recipients need Glaze installed and an account, but do not need a paid subscription to run shared apps. Glaze currently requires macOS Tahoe and Apple Silicon.

What can Glaze do?

  • Conversational app building

Describe a desktop app in plain language, then refine it through chat and annotations made directly in the app.

  • Local desktop integration

Build apps that run locally and access files, keyboard shortcuts, menu bar features, background processes, and hardware.

  • Choice of coding agents

Use Glaze models, connect a Claude subscription, or open app sources in another coding agent or editor.

  • App publishing and sharing

Publish to the public store, distribute through a private Team Store, or use Pro for unlisted sharing.

  • Editable app sources

Keep each app’s source code in a regular Mac folder and retain ownership of its code and content.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Free plan include?

Free includes 50 one-time welcome credits, access to Glaze Fast models, app installation, and public-store publishing. You can buy credit top-ups or build using your own Claude subscription or another agent; there is no recurring free credit allowance.

What does Pro cost?

Pro costs $10 per month and includes 100 monthly credits, Smart models, top-ups without a platform fee, Creator Hub analytics, unlisted publishing, and the option to disable remixing.

Can I use my existing Claude subscription?

Yes. Sign in through Claude CLI and connect it to Glaze. These builds do not spend Glaze credits and are unlimited on Glaze’s side during beta, subject to Claude’s own usage limits.

What computers can run Glaze?

Glaze currently requires a Mac with Apple Silicon running macOS Tahoe.

Do credits expire?

Pro monthly credits are valid for two months from grant, while purchased top-up credits are valid for three months. Credits are nonrefundable, and running installed apps is unaffected when your credit balance runs out.
